Aeries Software is organizing its first Advanced DBA Day for database administrators and technical staff. Collaborate with like-minded members of the Aeries network to gather and discuss innovative ways to take Aeries to the next level!

Enjoy these illuminating DBA day-exclusive sessions, organized and presented by the technical minds behind Aeries SIS.

Session 1001
Period 1, 8:00 - 10:00 AM

Data Extracts & Automation

Attendees will be able to create new extracts for the purpose of integrating with third party vendors or to utilize in-house data projects.  Import/Export methods include bulk insert, using powershell (SQLPS) for extracting data, SSIS Packages, and automating these and other common DBA tasks.

Session 1002
Period 1, 8:00 - 10:00 AM

Complex SQL
Query

Discuss and demonstrate good techniques for writing Stored Procedures, Functions, and ensuring queries are SARGable whenever possible. Show how Dynamic SQL and Query Hints can help with performance.

Session 1003
Period 2, 10:15AM - 12:15PM

Tips & Tools for Recovery

Discuss prevention strategies, best practices, and disaster recovery plans that should be in place to help a DBA avoid major issues. Strategies for recovery when an issue does arise including Sandbox database creation and management.

Session 1004
Period 2, 10:15AM - 12:15PM

Future
Possibilities

The late founder, industry pioneer, and president of Aeries Software—Jerry D. Lloyd Sr.—was the creator of numerous student information systems dating back to the 1960s, including the first nationally successful SIS: SASI. Jerry's vision of continual product innovation lives on in Aeries, which draws on his more than 40 years of SIS design experience. As we keep his vision alive, we want to spend some analyzing some of the database designs we've inherited over the years, and identify ways in which we can break the mold to drive Aeries as an Education Success Platform.
